Bomb threat emails cause panic in courts of Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab

Multiple district courts across India were evacuated on Thursday following bomb threat emails, triggering widespread panic among judges, lawyers, staff, and visitors. Authorities acted swiftly to ensure the safety of all present in court complexes.

In Chhattisgarh, Bilaspur and Rajnandgaon district courts, and in Madhya Pradesh, Rewa district court, received threatening emails. Police and bomb disposal squads immediately cordoned off the premises and conducted thorough searches, assisted by dog squads. No suspicious objects have been officially confirmed so far.

Bihar courts, including Patna, Gaya, and Kishanganj, also received bomb threats. Patna civil court was evacuated after an email claimed explosives were placed in the premises, while Gaya and Kishanganj courts were sealed and police began detailed investigations. Authorities emphasized the need for heightened vigilance across all courts.

Himachal Pradesh High Court’s official email also received a bomb threat, prompting immediate evacuation and a detailed search by the bomb squad. In Punjab, courts in Ropar, Sri Anandpur Sahib, Firozpur, and Moga were evacuated as a precaution, with a mock drill conducted in Ludhiana to test emergency protocols.

Cyber cells are tracing the origin and IP addresses of the threatening emails. Security agencies have increased vigilance and stated that normal court operations may remain disrupted until investigations are complete. Officials have not found any explosives so far but are treating every threat seriously.
